About Us

At Ridgeline Expedition, we believe the way you move through the world matters. For more than fifty years, we’ve built apparel and equipment that prepare people not just for the elements, but for the responsibility of protecting the wild places we explore.

Founded in 1972 by a small group of mountaineers and field scientists, Ridgeline began with a simple mission: create expedition-grade gear that could withstand the most punishing conditions on Earth. From the start, we paired technical performance with a commitment to ethical manufacturing—long before “sustainability” was a headline. That commitment remains central to our identity, but the road toward it is rarely straight or simple.

Today, our three product lines—Technical Apparel, Expedition Gear, and Trail Essentials—carry that legacy into the next era of adventure. Every jacket, pack, and tool is designed to help you go farther, stay longer, and tread lighter. We work closely with guides, researchers, and everyday explorers to ensure our products meet the real demands of the field.

We also know the challenges facing our planet—and our own operations—are bigger than any single company. While we’ve set ambitious goals through our Regenerate ‘30 initiative, reaching them means confronting tough trade-offs in materials, manufacturing, and supply chain practices. Some days we nail it; some days we fall short. But we believe that progress is built on honesty, adaptation, and the willingness to keep going.

Ridgeline Expedition. Built for the journey. Designed to matter.

Our Core Values

Sustainability in Action

As part of our Regenerate ’30 initiative, all technical apparel shells will be made from 100% recycled or renewable fabrics by 2028. This year, we reduced virgin plastic use in apparel by 45%, though scaling these changes for global production remains a challenge we’re working to solve.
